An electric vehicle is powered (either fully or partially) by electricity, unlike a conventional Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) car¹  . 

Modern-day EVs are of three types: Battery EVs (BEVs), plug-in hybrid EVs (PHEVs) and hybrid EVs (HEVs). Also called all-electric vehicles, BEVs rely solely on battery power while PHEVs and HEVs use both electric power and conventional combustion engines. BEVs are the most common EVs, accounting for nearly two-thirds of the 5 million electric cars on the road in 2018²  . 

The first electric vehicle introduced in Singapore was the BMW i3 back in 2014. 

Since then, the EV scene has expanded rapidly here and now offers a wide range of models at different price points. 

Under Singapore's Green Plan 2030 (SGP30)⁹ ,  the country aims to phase outInternal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles and
have all vehicles run on cleaner energy by 2040.
